While going through my e-mail archive this week, I stumbled across two
messages that didn't make it to the list. They are as follows:
From: "Bunnell, John M." <13796bunne@kcpbldg01.bv.com>
Subject: Par Images/Sequences
Date: Wed, 03 Aug 94 18:02:00 cdt
I have a couple of questions on the above:
1. When I grab a video clip with the PAR I sometimes see (when I try to use
it as a sequence in LW) black borders on the top and left or right side. I
use cubic image and auto sizing to a flat surface. When I try to change the
center point to make it fit (planar) either the top of the image comes
through on the bottom or the one side I am trying to make fit shows up on
the other side. I think you get the idea. This is not an everytime
occurrence but when it does happen I cannot fix it. I know I could take it
into ADPro and crop but then I would have to bust anim up and do it frame by
frame. My AREXX skills are non-existent.=:-) What am I to do or not do to
alleviate this prob?LW3.1,PAR 2.1, Micropolis Drive, 32mb mem,4000.
2. Say I have an anim with 500 frames and this one part of the anim I don't
want to appear until frame 450 and show until the end. This part (text) is
in the camera view all of the time but is 100% dissolved until frame 450 and
it has a sequence mapped to the front faces. Questions are is there a way to
get the sequence (90f) to start at frame 450 and run till end? By that I
mean, start with frame 001 at 450 and run till end. Also is there a way to
get LW not to start loading the image seq. until frame 450 (even though it
is 100% dissolved it still loads the frame)?
I work alone and with no other LW anim in the company YOU all are my
coworkers and mentors..=:-)
Thx for the time

But there is also the fact that shadow maps in LW still have some problems.
One that I find particularly annoying is that they can sometimes be offset
from the shadow casting object. This can cause an object sitting on the
floor
or attached to a wall to appear to be floating. Also, in some cases, they
can flicker on the edges when animated.

Mark, I just had that problem with an anim of a power plant that looked like
it was floating from certain angles. I had to use shadow map to save render
time (needed it yesterday). I am glad I found out I am not losing my mind,
at this point in time.<G> I spent some time assuring myself that it was an
illusion but I wasn't sure what created it.
thx
